Automation System for a Garment Recycling Company in Hong Kong

Our international customer contacted Plant Werx to help them develop a monitoring, logging, and batch-tracking system.

Goals

• To develop a system capable of handling the following tasks
  • While running using PLC, monitor machines from different vendors
  • Create and track batches
  • Print labels automatically when a new batch is created
  • Generate the required reports for each case that is being carried out on the system

Challenges

• Global supply chain disruption makes it harder to get the required hardware to perform Network Address Translation (NAT)
• First implementation of a system with Seagull Scientific BarTender software

• Securing a different vendor to get the hardware within the shortest time possible
• Implemented the system using the combination of the following:
  • Wonderware InTouch
  • Seagull Scientific Barternder
  • Microsoft SQL Server

Results

• Customer now has a system that is capable of monitoring and tracking its production batches, and report production metrics
