Downtime Logging System Replacing Manual Method for an F&B Manufacturer

Our food and beverage manufacturing customer approached Plant Werx to create a logging system to record downtime and allow operators to enter comments after the event to replace the manual method of recording downtime.

• Create a logging system to record downtime and allow operators to enter comments after the event to replace the manual method of recording downtime

Challenges

• Entering comments post- event is not a standard feature and a customised solution is required

Solutions Implemented by Plant Werx

• Deployed a historical data logging system to capture the downtime events
• Create a user interface in Wonderware InTouch to do the following:
  • Monitor each machine’s status
  • Enter the cause/s of the downtime post-event based on the user’s specified list of causes

Results

• A downtime logging solution was implemented, allowing accurate unsupervised downtime event
• Solution implemented allows operators to enter the comments after the downtime event
• Automated report generation created for easy data retrieval
